Stand Up! For The Bay is a community event designed to bring our bay and waterways into the focus of citizens in our community. The event will take place in downtown Coos Bay, at the public dock/boardwalk on September 30th, 2017. Registration starts at 9am, paddle kickoff is 10am sharp.

Those in attendance can choose between participating in the community paddle, or a shoreline clean-up. Kick-off for either starts promptly at 10 am at the Coos Bay Boardwalk. The paddling group will either stand up paddle, canoe, or kayak, in the bay along a route that is designed for ease of travel, with consideration of tide and wind direction. The route will be moderate in length and will take 1-2 hours. A boat and two lifeguards will be on watch for safety purposes. LIFEJACKETS ARE REQUIRED! Non paddlers can walk along the boardwalk in either direction collecting shoreline garbage. Gloves, buckets, and bags will be provided.

All participants will congregate again at 11 am after the paddle and clean-up on the boardwalk, or in the Broadway Theater (depending on weather), for a luau, live music by Che's Lounge, and educational activities by South Slough NERR, and Coos Watershed. There will be a paddle joust tournament at 12pm. All participants are welcome to compete, Stand Up board will be provided but wetsuits will not.

Event Day Registration is Free. Registration includes the community paddle and/or shoreline clean-up and entry into the paddle joust. Meal and Beer tickets sold separately for $10. Shirts sold separately. Any proceeds will help fund the Blue Water Task Force, Coos Bay Surfrider's monthly water quality testing program and other local Surfrider programs.
